In 2024, the UAE, through the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, has made remarkable progress across several key sectors, underlining its commitment to sustainable development, innovation, and environmental protection. These milestones not only enhance the well-being of its society but also position the UAE as a leader in global sustainability and infrastructure.

Strategic Vision Driving Success

Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, the UAE's Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, attributed these achievements to a forward-thinking, strategic vision that successfully balances urban growth with environmental preservation. According to Al Mazrouei, the UAE is at the forefront of the global transition to clean energy, focusing on international cooperation and attracting investments in renewable energy solutions. This approach is ensuring that the country remains resilient and adaptable in the face of global challenges.

Major Achievements in the Energy Sector

In the energy sector, the UAE continues to make significant strides towards reducing its dependence on fossil fuels. The country has committed to investing AED 500 billion over the next 30 years to achieve climate neutrality. As part of its current efforts, the UAE has successfully generated 6 GW of renewable energy and 5.6 GW from nuclear power, with more initiatives lined up to increase its clean energy capacity. This commitment reflects the UAE's dedication to fostering a sustainable future for its citizens and the world.

Infrastructure Developments

When it comes to infrastructure, the UAE has witnessed impressive growth. The country is home to nearly 3,000 federal buildings, including essential healthcare and educational facilities. From 2018 to 2023, the UAE invested AED 11.8 billion in infrastructure projects, ensuring the continued growth and development of its cities. A key focus has been on providing high-quality housing, with the Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme issuing over 90,000 housing decisions since 1999. In the past three years alone, this programme has approved 13,000 housing decisions worth AED 10 billion, demonstrating the UAE’s ongoing commitment to improving living standards for its citizens.

Maritime and Logistics Sector Leadership

The UAE's maritime sector also continues to excel, positioning the country as a global leader in logistics. In 2025, the UAE will host the World Maritime Day Parallel Event, further cementing its role in international maritime operations. Additionally, the UAE has launched the Blue Pass Multimodal Digital Platform, which aims to streamline the transportation process and improve efficiency in the logistics industry. The country’s maritime sector is ranked seventh globally in logistics performance and holds the top spot for air transport infrastructure quality, reinforcing its strategic importance in global trade.

Innovation in Government Services

In addition to its sectoral growth, the UAE has also made significant strides in improving government efficiency. Through the Bureaucracy Zero Programme, the government has drastically reduced unnecessary procedures, saving millions of hours and increasing customer satisfaction. This initiative highlights the UAE's drive to create a more efficient and transparent government that serves its people with ease and effectiveness.
