UAE Weather Alert: Red Alert Issued as Hazardous Conditions Intensify
The National Centre of Meteorology in the UAE has raised a red alert across most parts of the country, urging residents to exercise extreme caution as weather conditions take a hazardous turn.
The onset of thunderstorms and heavy rainfall late Monday night into Tuesday brought about a flurry of activity across the UAE. Residents woke up to continuous thunder and lightning, signaling the intensification of the weather situation.
According to the meteorological authority, areas marked with orange alerts require heightened vigilance, while those with yellow alerts may experience relatively milder conditions. This categorization aims to keep the public informed and prepared for potential weather-related challenges.
The unstable weather pattern, attributed to a "low surface pressure" and two waves of unsettled weather moving through the region, is expected to persist from Monday through Wednesday. This forecast has prompted government directives for safety measures.
In response to the deteriorating weather conditions, government employees have been instructed to work from home on Wednesday. Dubai has extended this arrangement to include private school students, and private sector companies are encouraged to facilitate remote work for their employees as well.
Sharjah has followed suit, mandating remote work for federal employees on Wednesday. Both public and private schools in these emirates will conduct online classes, ensuring the safety of students and staff amidst the challenging weather conditions.
As the UAE braces for continued unstable weather, staying informed and taking necessary precautions remain paramount for residents across the country.
